We’re proud to share that the Garnet Mesa Solar project in Delta, Colorado has been named the Energy/Industrial category winner by ENR Mountain States as part of its annual Best Projects competition. The program recognizes outstanding design and construction across Colorado and Wyoming, celebrating projects that demonstrate innovation, collaboration, and lasting community impact.
The Garnet Mesa Solar project, located about five miles east of Delta, Colorado, is making big strides toward providing safe, reliable, and renewable energy for the area. Construction is well underway, with underground wiring complete and work progressing on installing steel frames to hold the solar panels.
Partners from Delta-Montrose Electric Association, Alluvial Power and Guzman Energy joined with Delta county commissioners and community to recognize the groundbreaking of the 80MW agrivoltaic solar project coming online in 2025.
Those in favor of bringing a solar energy system to Delta mentioned helping the environment, additional tax revenue for the city, cheaper rates for customers and having a local energy source as reasons to support the proposal.
Guzman Energy has received approval from the Delta County Board of Commissioners for a limited use permit required to install and operate the proposed Garnet Mesa Solar project in Southern Delta County, Colorado.
When complete, the 80-MW Garnet Mesa Solar Project on 383 acres on a former ranch southeast of Delta will be the largest solar farm on the Western Slope of the Rocky Mountains west of the Continental Divide, and the largest “agrivoltaic” installation in Colorado.
